Nutrition

Food is part of life and plays a role in our social, physical and mental well-being. Many people pay little attention to the food they eat and do not understand its nutritional value. Food contains energy which comes from protein, carbohydrates and fats. Food supplies essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function properly.

In the medical pathway, you will meet with the dietitian in a small class setting to begin learning the elements necessary to eat your way to a smaller and healthier you. You will learn the basic make up of foods, how to make the healthy choice and how your diet impacts your ability to lose and maintain your weight. You may have individual follow up sessions with the dietitian as ordered by your physician.

Our center also offers some unique services not found at any other center in the region:

  • Grocery Store Tours” — meet one of our registered dietitians at a local grocery store to learn more about making healthy food selections. Also learn how to navigate the aisles of the grocery store and read food labels for nutritional content.
